Reflecting on this past year when it came to my crafting proved interesting, so I thought I’d ask a few of our lovely Woolly Workers as well! I caught up with Annette to ask her what projects made her year and what she may have coming up in 2025.
Hi, Annette! What lovely pieces have you made in 2024?
My New Year New Start for 2024 was the cross stitch pattern “Okayer” by Lucy Beam – I changed all the colours, chose some co-ordinating fabric from the Tula Pink “Roar” range and made it into a project bag for future projects to live in.

I also made a couple of bird-themed Christmas ornaments (I love sparkly fabric for festive projects) and two bookmarks. I need lots of bookmarks for my out-of-control library habit!
I think my favourite 2024 finish was the sweet panda from a design by Velvet Pony. He took a while to stitch and I finished him in a silver frame – he lives on my craft room wall now. I think the design is so delicate and I love the subtle shading, creating the contours of his face and features. His sad eyes are a little bit haunting too.
They look fantastic – so neat and crisp! What are you hoping to finish in 2025?
I will go into 2025 with three WIPs (works in progress). My two cross stitch ones are Rainbow Squares, a wonderfully colourful design by Vivsters), which is about half-completed, and the Friends folk, who are arriving slowly, one at a time!

Really, I am a stitcher, but I am slowly improving my crochet skills and am now on the second colour for my squares on the Sam Sabido Coatigan CAL. I am changing colours for this one too – navy with some splashes of pinks, lilacs and teals.
What projects are on your completion list for the new year?
Well, I don’t really like to have crafting goals, as I find it makes me anxious and takes away from my enjoyment of my creative hobbies. So I am just going to say that I would like to carry on with my WIPs and maybe start a few more, whenever I feel like it!
I can understand that, and still a great way to think about your WIPs! Are there any other resolutions that you’d like to share that may or may not be crafting related?
“Saving things for best” is a big thing for me, and I am going to try to address it in 2025. So, I will be stitching on that gorgeous Aida that I have been saving for the perfect project, and I will be using that beautiful variegated thread in my stash whenever I want! I am also going to work hard to apply it to everything else too – I am determined that there will be no “saving things for best” in 2025!
I love this! I think it’s safe to say we all can’t wait to see what you do next, Annette!
I’ll check in with Annette again in June and perhaps she’ll have an update for us! Be sure to check back in a few days for our next set of New Year’s Resolutions.
If you’d like to share yours, we’d love to hear them! Tag us in your posts using #WWResolutions – we can’t wait to see what you might be making for next year! 📆
