February Fabric

One of the highlights of February for me, is the first time I leave Wool Warehouse HQ at the end of the day and notice it’s still light outside after months of dark winter walks home. By the end of the month, it’s still light when I arrive home too, and it gives me such a boost! Along with the returning of the light and the first flush of spring, bright new fabric deliveries have been arriving with us, and I can’t wait to share them with you.

Let’s start with those new shoots and fresh sunshine! This lovely collection of spring florals by Cassandra Connolly for Lewis and Irene has been a real hit since it arrived at the beginning of February. ‘Joys of Spring’ celebrates the crocuses, snowdrops, primroses and daffs popping up in our gardens and parks at this time of year, all in fresh shades of green, soft pink, and vibrant yellow. The perfect fabrics to dip your toes into the new season.

These designs would make a pretty ‘not too on the nose’ Easter project (a little dress, a centre piece for the table, a cute egg basket?) or if you’re feeling more ambitious, a beautiful quilt. Lewis and Irene have released a lovely Half Square Triangle free quilt pattern with this collection, with three different colour combinations to try.

And if Spring for you means bunnies, eggs and chicks, we have you covered too – have a peep at these fabrics to get you sewing for Easter:

It’s not an immediately obvious pairing, but I really think it works. The carefully curated designs encapsulate William Morris’ love for nature, as well as historic prints inspired by medieval textiles and papers and together with Kaffe’s dazzling colours, speak to the vision of both designers, encouraging beautifully crafted spaces in everyone’s homes and lives.

This collection only arrived just in time to be rounded up, but it’s so fun that I had to squeeze it in. ‘Cosmic Cowboy‘ for Dashwood Studio is inspired by all the things designer Carly Watt loves most; starry skies and magical galaxies, free-spirited horses running wild, beautiful flowers and plants, vintage cowboy boots and unique cacti, all tied together with a little bit of retro flair.

New to Dashwood Studio, Carly is a surface pattern designer and illustrator, based in Cheshire. Her artwork often incorporates celestial themes, flora and fauna, and magical imagery and she has worked with brands such as Anthropologie, Illumicrate, and Apartment Therapy to bring her designs to life.

That’s it for February’s fabric, now go forth and sew! But before you go, do check out Alex’s yarn and projects highlights, and Annette’s round up of new needlecraft
