February Fabric ✂️

The sun’s trying to break through, the days are lighter for longer, and there’s that sense of renewal in the air. I’ve been listening to Garage music for the past week or so, so I don’t know about you all, but that certainly brings the sunshine for me!

Enough about my listening habits – hello, all! I’m back with another Fabric round up and I’m excited to show you some of our new collections that have landed in the department this past month! Although I may have mentioned these in a previous round-up, it’s always lovely to be able to talk about them in that little bit more detail. So with that in mind, I’ll get started…

Little Ones – Makower 🦔

Little Ones is first on the agenda for this month and what a cute range it is! Combining tones of spring alongside many countryside animals, Little Ones is perfect for any nursery or child’s bedroom. With a varied palette, this collection’s perfect for those who’d rather deviate from the more commonly thought of ‘traditional’ colourways, or if you’re unsure on what you’re having and wish to decorate ahead of baby’s arrival!

Featuring animals tenderly paired with their offspring, Little Ones evokes comfort and the feeling of strong familial bonds within a soft palette, bringing calm to any space, yet still offering moments of whimsy and curiousity in the designs featured.

For this collection, we’re also stocking Makower’s precut 5-inch squares, with the pack containing at least one square of each design with some repeats, allowing you to assemble the perfect quilt or wall hanging for the bouncing bundle of joy. Gifts From The Garden – Liberty Fabrics 🍊

We’ve been looking forward to this one for quite some time and we’re SO excited that it’s here! Liberty Fabrics have really brought summer to the forefront of our minds with this one, as Gifts From The Garden certainly feels like a ray of sunshine.

Using beautiful turquoises, rich mints and zesty yellows, Gifts From The Garden certainly is fruitful in every sense of the word. Printed onto their popular Lasenby Cotton, this collection’s just another of theirs that’s perfect for a multitude of uses, yet most popular for quilting.

We’ve got many a favourite from this collection, yet one that always wears the crown for us is the Polka Fruit design. We love all four colour ways, yet the bright yellow and rich mint seems to just tip it over the edge for us! Striking in quilts, as seen above in the image from Liberty Fabrics, or as some fun bunting or a cushion, these designs work perfectly alone, yet are superb when crafted together.

This collection also offers a selection of stunning free patterns: a squares quilt, a cushion and the Fruitopia quilt, designed by Matthew Pridemore from The Whimsical Workshop. With lots of inspiration to keep you busy, be sure to check out the full collection HERE!

Dear Spring – Lewis & Irene 🌸

Finally, I thought we’d take a closer look at another wonderful collection from Cassandra Connolly with Lewis & Irene. Dear Spring is certainly quite the ode to the season, featuring bunnies, blooming florals, and tones that are perfect for a variety of projects.

Much like Cassandra Connolly’s other works, the Dear Spring collection is evoked through a thoughtful poem, featured on Lewis and Irene’s page about the collection, which you can read HERE. What’s described is a celebration of renewal and the promise of colour entering our surroundings once again.

The collection features a double border, (which you can view HERE) one that feels timeless in its whimsy and tone. With bunnies in the blooms and butterflies dancing in the air around them, this double border would work perfectly for dress making or for an item in the home to bring some added fun to the season – if you celebrate, why not make a little treat bag for Easter? Either way, there’s plenty of inspiration to be had with this range!

Of course it wouldn’t be a Lewis & Irene collection without a free pattern! Designed by the talented Sally Ablett, the Dear Spring quilt uses the collection to its full advantage, giving you the perfect opportunity to craft something to cherish for years to come. Best Of The Rest…

With florals and the season change very much in the forefront of our minds, I thought I’d take the time to highlight a few collections that also give the same feeling. Berneray is a personal favourite of many of ours within the warehouse, with Bluebell Gray offering a beautiful take on Florals, with their signature hand-painted style.

Next is a new collection from Craft Cotton Company with Gentle Meadow. This small, but impactful, collection is designed by returning favourite Susan Wheeler, where pretty pinks and purples feature alongside different shades of green, as cute bunnies take a rest in lush open spaces. Finally, Hello Spring from Makower brings the sunshine with their collection, offering bright pastels and prints such as little chicks and triumphant Daffodils, a staple of the season.

That’s it from me for February!
