These recent sunny days have had us feeling that much cheerier, and with the skies being awash with hues of turquoise, we’re dreaming of days by the seaside with the rays glistening on the water. Illustrating those dreamy days wonderfully is Makower’s Driftwood, their most recent collection to the warehouse.
Makower always excel when it comes to their thalassic themed ranges, yet its the simplicity of designs like Driftwood that really evoke those feelings of serenity and peace that come with taking yourself to locations such as those depicted in the collection. As an author’s note, it reminded me of heading to the Isle of Wight; I’ve included a little snap below from my last trip there and I’m sure you can see why this collection brought those memories back!
Featuring a calming blend of blues, creams and greens, Driftwood feels as though it has tranquility sewn throughout its offerings. We could see this collection being used for a number of things; from bunting to cushions, bucket hats to e-reader covers – the possibilites are endless. We could definitely see this collection made into a stunning table runner and placemats for those summer barbeques – weather permitting, of course!

As far as favourites go, this was a tough choice! We never make it easy for ourselves and this collection was tough as so many of us in the warehouse really do love to be beside the seaside! However if we had to pick a top three, it feels right to go with the main print, aptly named Cove in Light Blue. Featuring quaint homes surrounded by the ocean, this design really makes you want to step into that world, feeling like quite the postcard.
Our next favourite is Sailing in Cream, a beautiful monochromatic design that features many sailing boats on the open water, surrounded by different lighthouses featuring different designs. Lastly, the Beach Huts in Blue are giving us all kinds of nostalgia! We can picture being sat inside all cosy, tucked away from pesky seagulls with a cone of chips, watching the waves roll in – bliss!
