Helen, the creative force behind the Emkatcrochet designs, began designing in 2020, when the UK was plunged into lockdown.  Always creative, Helen began crocheting in 2016 and hasn’t been without a hook in her hand ever since!  Her passion is blanket designs, and she loves to put together new colours and marvels at how different a blanket can look in different colourways.  Helen’s inspiration can come from anywhere, especially from photographs she has taken in the past, as well as from childhood memories.  EmkatCrochet designs have featured in many magazines, including Inside Crochet, Simply Crochet and Crochet Now, and Helen is particularly proud of her book Crochet Illusion Blankets.  She has also created designs for the Crochet Society and was thrilled to be asked to design the Sirdar Christmas 2023 CAL.  Her hooks of choice are Pedros Plaques polymer clay and Clover Amour, and as for yarns, Helen is a fan of Yarnsmiths Create DK, because of the range of colours, and also of Cygnet Silcaress, because of its silky texture.  And when she’s not crocheting, you will find Helen enjoying outdoor life with her family and dogs.
