If you’re visiting here on the 1st of April, you might have arrived from our April Fools’ post! We truly appreciate the enthusiasm for crocheted and knitted bricks for our new warehouse, but unfortunately, we just don’t think it is going to work out! Onto bigger and better things…
Now that the Easter weekend has just passed, let’s dive into some inspiring spring projects to carry us through to the summertime!
For those who celebrate the spring equinox, perhaps you’ve already adorned a part of your home with an Easter display. If not, it’s never too late, and the beautiful displays shared on our Instagram explore page have been a great source of inspiration!
You can create your own display by using different spring ingredients such as eggs, flowers, foraged twigs, and of course, crafting to make your spring display. If you’re anything like me, I just like to pop things down in an “organised mess”, and say it’s a display… much to my partner’s “enjoyment” (who is often tripping over organza bags, yarn and any foraged goods I bring in!) It’s a good day when there’s chocolate eggs involved
As Easter came round, the warehouse was once again in spring spirit, as the evenings and mornings are getting lighter. Those of us who finish on the 5pm shift walk out to daylight now, and I’m sure those who start at 6am will start to see a bit of morning before they start. The mood has lifted as things slowly come back to life, and that includes us crafters – those of us who have hunkered down to battle through winter with our never-ending pile of WIPs! I’ve started thinking ahead to summer projects, and what I’d like to make for an upcoming holiday! Last Wednesday we took a short break from work to see a wonderful display of Easter eggs in our old showroom. We all tootled down and got to pick our own eggs, and do swaps and shares if we wanted – it’s always a good day when there are chocolate eggs involved!
And on Good Friday, we stayed open so we could make sure your orders were picked and packed, as we know the Bank Holidays can play havoc with deliveries, but to make the day a little easier, we held our first Bake Sale of the year! All money raised is for our local charity Myton Hospice, although in the past we have supported another favourite, Warwickshire Pride.
Both of these charities are worth a mention in this blog post, for the hard work they do for our community. Myton Hospice is a local charity who focus on enhancing life when a cure is no longer an option for those facing terminal illnesses. Warwickshire Pride is an organisation based here who help and support our local LGBT+ Community. They run a number of services and social events for LGBT+ people across the county, which helps support and raise awareness for people within the community. We are even lucky enough to have our very own Rainbow Crossing in the heart of Leamington!
