With the sun hiding more than shining as of late, my picks this month will hopefully help coax out those rays!
Iāll be honest, Iāve not been stitching all that much as of late, as May’s been a particularly busy time for me. Yet having recently set some time aside to work on my WIP was a much needed reminder of just how enjoyable sitting down with a cuppa and a good listen is.
You may have noticed my current project in last monthās banner image, but Iāve managed to clear a page of the pattern (wahoo!) and make some progress ā hopefully Iāll have a completed project for you in July!
This lovely pattern is from StitchGalleryPDF, but as I had some offcuts in my not-so-small stash, I used Zweigartās Rustico Flecked Oatmeal 14-count aida, instead of white. I’ve also switched the colours slightly to bring a little more warmth to the fabric.
So, if you’re looking for a little company when crafting, here are my three top picks for the month that have helped me with my WIPs ā past and present!

As always, please make sure to check your content warnings as some of these suggestions may contain adult language, content and/or sensitive topics.
š Audiobook: One Week in Paradise – Anise Starre
Itās books like this one that are the definition of āthe perfect summer readā, so Iām starting off strong and bringing the heat at the top of the bill with One Week in Paradise by Anise Starre.
With her influencing career at a standstill, an invite to paradise in Jamaica is the perfect remedy to land in Bailey Clarkeās inbox. The opportunity to rebuild her brand is a no-brainer; the only trouble is itās for couples-only and Bailey is sans plus-one.

Thankfully, Baileyās brother Dane suggests a perfect solution ā take his best friend, Cash. To her surprise, Cash agrees to go on the all-expenses-paid trip and act as Baileyās boyfriend for the week.
Yet as the days pass, the lines of fantasy and reality begin to blur between the pair. And with Bailey carrying a few secrets around in her beach bag, Cash might just be the perfect guy to help her unpack her truths.
I loved this one and I cannot wait to listen to the other two books in the Flights and Feelings series!
šļø Podcast: Ghostwriter – C13Features
Branded as a āPodcast Movieā, Kate Mara and Adam Scott star in Ghostwriter, an immersive psychological thriller that will certainly keep you on the edge of your seat between stitches.
Former journalist Kate is enlisted to ghostwrite for James Webber, a peculiar billionaire with a story that he feels only Kate can help him write.
After specifically seeking her out, the recluse is faced with penning a harrowing fictionalisation of a truth that James knows only too well.
Yet the longer that Kate sits with the story and her eccentric boss, she learns that reading between the lines of what’s written has never felt so dangerous.

šæ Album: Touch – Amerie
For many of us, our first introduction to Amerie and her incredible voice was ā1 Thingā. Produced by Rich Harrison, the percussion heavy track is one that still feels so fresh almost twenty years later. And as its introductory track to the album, Touch certainly kicks things off with a high-note.

It’s an R&B masterpiece all-year-round, but it’s always summer staple to blast in the car with the windows down, or sitting outside in the late-night heat with earphones to immerse yourself in smooth production, Amerieās impressive vocals and pensive lyricism.
For me, it’s a no-skip body of work, but some of my personal faves are āTalkinā Aboutā, āRolling Down My Faceā and āFallingā. And although it’s technically an album later, Touch still brings that ‘Amerie Weather’ from All I Have‘s ‘Why Don’t We Fall In Love‘ – if you know, you know! If not, treat yourself to a watch of the video and you’ll understand exactly why that term was coined.
