What a busy month August has been! We’ve been to Festival of Quilts, had a reorganise of the fabric room (we now have a very pleasing pegboard for our scissors) and we’ve got lots of new fabrics to tempt you with. Although summer is gradually coming to an end, there’s still a bit of a holiday feeling in this month’s new fabric collections. Without further ramble, lets have a look at what’s new!
Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts is back with another beautiful blue hued quilting collection for Andover Fabrics. ‘Beach House‘ features ornate traditional florals, interspersed with little nods to the coastal theme – a subtle print of tiny beach huts, sweeping fronds of aquatic plants, and nautical ticking stripes.

The dreamy palette of coastal blues and creams, dotted with sandy highlights, keeps this range feeling contemporary and fresh as a sea breeze. It also works very well with Edyta’s previous, more wintery ‘Blue Escape‘ collection. Classic coastal colours for a dream getaway!
Liberty Fabrics‘ ‘Postcard from the Highlands‘ arrived at the beginning of August and has been such a huge hit, that we’ve had to scramble to restock!
Join Liberty Fabrics as they journey northwards to explore the breathtaking beauty and splendour of the Scottish highlands. Renowned for its natural wonders and unrivaled tranquility, this region in northern Scotland will captivate you with awe-inspiring mountains and scenic coastlines, diverse plant life, vast Lochs and cascading rivers.

This softly shaded collection blends sweeping landscapes with pretty and recognisable florals. Purple veils of heather, vibrant blooms of rhododendrons, wild berries, foxgloves, irises, thistles, marsh orchids, and sea pinks speckle the beloved highland hillsides and coastlines.

We’re hoping to have a bit more stock available soon of ‘Highlands and Islands‘ and ‘Sweet Blackberries‘ (sign up for a back in stock email if you’re keen) and in the meantime there’s plenty more highland magic to be had. Don’t miss out!
We’re very excited to be stocking Stuart Hillard’s first collection for Lewis and Irene, named ‘Hajime‘ from the Japanese “to begin”. Stuart has been designing fabrics since 2017 and many of his collections explore the beauty of our global textile heritage blended with traditional dyeing techniques and more abstract modern mark making.

The designs in ‘Hajime’ were inspired by vintage Japanese kimono, and re-imagined for modern sewing, showcasing stylised florals, abstract hatched lines, windblown reeds, and geometric shapes, all in a classic and subtle palette of blues, creams and muted mustard yellow. Stuart has used my favourite colour combo here, so I’m coveting this collection for a future project… I particularly love the yellow brushstrokes print, and the shibori inspired scratch spot design.
That’s it for August’s fabric round up! Before you go, be sure to have a gander at our round up of August yarn and projects here, and lovely new needlecraft here.
