We know it’s almost a month away, but us stitchers know you can never be too prepared. It’s time for a terrifically terrifying special Halloween edition of The Stitchuation!
It’s time to get into the, quite literal, spirit of things and begin those creepy crafts in time for October 31st. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, we’ve got a wide range of some super-ghoul finds in the warehouse, so we’ve picked some of our favourites to help inspire.
Too Ghoul For School
The treats have certainly arrived in the warehouse early and there’s plenty of things to craft with the kids. Alternatively, if you’re looking for something a little bit different than a packet of sweets for your loved ones, these are great to pop in any treat bag. Please note that adult supervision will be required – let’s steer away from any horrors in reality, makers!
With artwork from Kate Hadfield, the Little Stitchers collections from Bothy Threads are perfect for those mini-crafters who are hoping to build their skills. Although we love both the Circus and Fairytale themed offerings, let’s take a look at some Halloween kits.

Why not have a craft day and make one of these Mini Monster bookmarks? These four little smilers are perfect for holding their place in any Goosebumps book. But let’s not forget, us adults can still get involved – who wouldn’t want a Mini Monster Peggy bookmark?! We certainly do!
While the Mini Monsters range is perfect for 6-10 year olds, the collection for 10-14’s is great for those who are up for the challenge of a larger kit. If you’re wanting to nurture their new crafting bug, we’ve got the perfect project bag and needleminder for them to feel like a little stitching superstar.
Frightfully Fabulous

For those stitchers who know their fractionals and French knots, these kits from Bothy Threads will certainly be a treat!
Based on the original artwork by Sally King, All Hallows’ Party features cats, bats and even a Witch in a hat, in this haunting setting.
However, if you don’t mind getting caught in a spiderweb or two, this Gossamer Slipper is sure to look stylish on any wall.
But if spiders are more foe than friend, we’ve got plenty of other options of Sally King’s splendid stilettos to suit any style!

In The Spirit Of Things
We couldn’t resist adding another Bothy Threads kit into our line up, as Pumpkin House delivers the ultimate eerie vibe, complete with metallic threads and shining silver stars.
Other favourites of ours include Oh Sew Bootiful‘s One Spooky Night, which rounds a full moon with some stunning embroidery. Caterpillar Cross Stitch‘s a Touch Of Magic perfectly marries typography and classic halloween together, and Riverdrift House‘s Halloween Spookies certainly bring the right amount of scares in this sampler.

A Scary Sidekick
It’s always quite the jumpscare when you think you’ve lost your needle mid project, but with these handy magnetic needle minders, those worries are sure to become a thing of the past. Us stitchers in the warehouse are huge fans of a needle minder or two (in Woolly Worker Vic’s case, maybe four or five and growing 👀), but if you’re new to the idea, we’re happy to ease you in with some of our seasonal faves!
Bothy’s Pumpkin and Caterpillar Cross Stitch’s Ghost and Black Cat needle minders really are the perfect pals for any project. Two super strong magents are fixed to each minder, ensuring a firm hold on both your project and needle. We love the enamel finish on these three frightening friends, but if you’re looking for something outside of Halloween town, there’s plenty of others to discover HERE.

Thinking of Boo
Who doesn’t love receiving a bit of snail-mail in a digital world? We certainly do – bills aside, of course. Kirsten Roche’s designs are featured throughout many Heritage Crafts collections, so it’s no surprise that these cute little Halloween Gonks have been added to the party.
Each kit comes with a card and envelope, 14-count aida, chart and instructions, DMC stranded cotton and a needle. Perfect to stitch up and send to a loved one to wish them a very happy Halloween – what a treat, indeed.
Little Shop of Horrors
It’s scary enough when time isn’t on your side, so we’ve got you covered with these super-quick makes from Mouseloft. Beginner-friendly, everything you’ll need to craft these creepy makes are all included in the small, but mighty, kits.
Placed around your home for a seasonal scare once complete is a great way to display these little stitches, but if you’ve got the tools to do so, creating cards to send to a loved one is another way to use your Mouseloft kit. However you want to display yours, they’re perfect to make on those cosier afternoons whilst watching your favourite Horror movie!
Bat’s All, Folks!
