No matter how many trips around the sun we complete, I don’t think any of us can really get over the concept of time and just how fast it all flies by. The age old ‘new year, new me’ is always imminent and while we rack up ways to make 2025 our best year yet, my goals are a little more stitch-focused.
If you’ve read my posts throughout the year (thanks!), you’ll know I’ve always got WIPs on the go. Yet some of these have been on the frame for over six years – yes, I’m talking about that Lara Croft one.
I don’t want to set my goals so sky-high that they’re so far out of reach, but I think thinning out the pile wouldn’t do me any harm. Currently, I’ve got six cross stitch projects on hoops and frames, and a 70cm x 70cm latch hook rug stashed under my sofa, too – FUN TIMES.
You might think six is light work, yet with one of the projects being 14″ x 16″ and 40 colours, it’s by no means an easy feat! As you can see, I’m in different stages of each, but I think making myself focus on one at a time, should help clear these down. She says…

Like many crafters, I have a folder full of patterns and I want to complete them all immediately. I was pleased with myself that I somewhat stuck to not making as many things for people in 2024, bar the occassional project here and there. Harsh as that might sound, I had sparks coming off needles and latch hooks in 2022 and whilst I enjoyed making those lovely projects, it didn’t leave me much time for anything else.
I’ve mostly stitched whatever’s called to me this past year and I’ve really enjoyed doing that. Even with the smaller items, it’s been fun to just tick off a few patterns in the stash and get rid of some remnants. Again, not as many as I would have liked to have done, but with work, writing commitments and everything else, I’m glad I found the time to complete a fair few pieces!

I do have my eye on some new patterns, but I’m thinking of putting myself on a pattern buying ban! I’ve tried to do this with books and vinyls and it never seems to work, but perhaps 2025 will be the year it finally works!

I’d say the three I’m looking forward to completing the most are these eye-catching Koi from AuthorEmbroideDesign, part one of the Vintage Kitchen from NARAxStitchPatterns and one I just couldn’t resist – Snorlax have a soak from ChocoCocoStitch!

I’d also like to try my hand at quilting as I was so kindly gifted this Owl panel from Moda’s Owl-O-Ween collection.
Along with plenty of other fabric that needs using, it’s been sat in my stash for far too long and there’s only so many excuses I can keep delivering – watch this space, Steve!
I’m hoping to use up some of my other autumnal and Halloween fabric around it, using those same tones to help compliment the centrepiece. We’ll see how it goes, but we can but try!
I’ve more than likely bitten off far more than I can chew, but if I don’t set myself these lofty challenges, who will?! Have you got any crafty goals set already for next year? We’d love to know your new year resolutions! Tag us in your posts using #WWResolutions and we’ll get sharing if you need that extra push!
I’ll be back soon and asking some other Woolly Workers what their crafty plans are for next year, so be sure to stick around for that. Wishing you all a happy, healthy and prosperous new year, however you wish to spend it. Here’s to 2025, crafters! π
