Hello to the sunshine and hello to Week Three of our gorgeous Spring in Bloom CAL! As you know, we’ve been working with Helen at Emkat Crochet to bring you this fabulous, spring-inspired blanket design, released in six parts over this season.
We hope you’re enjoying the journey so far – we know we are loving hearing from you about the CAL, and seeing your progress on the socials! The Craft and Chat group has been a fabulous resource for sharing your progress and making connections with fellow crocheters.
So, what is in store for us in Week Three? Well, here we go…!

We’ll be working this week on the four squares which form the corners of the middle border. These will join together the longer panels decorated with the tulip details and butterfly stitches from last week’s release. These four beautiful flower squares are a repeat of the middle squares from week 1, but using different colours – so, that’s a winning combination of a stitch you’ve already mastered in a new and exciting colourway! What we would like to say about this week’s pattern release is…yellow! By that, we mean, be extra careful with your tension and the length of your ends this week, as all four of these squares use the yellow yarn, and we would hate for you to run short when you come to the final pattern releases. All should be well as long as you take a little time to check your tension is nice and regular, and that your ends are not super-long. As always, we recommend you take a little look at Helen’s Youtube videos before you continue on your way with your CAL journey, just to pick up any tips or advice which may be helpful.

And, of course, take your time and have fun! When we first began working with Helen on the Spring in Bloom CAL, we hoped that this gorgeous design, combined with the collection of stitches and the beautiful pallette of colours, would be a joy to crochet, and a truly enjoyable experience for the crafter – and we hope that you are finding that to be true. The Tips and Tools PDF is always there for you to consult if you need it, and please continue to reach out to Helen online if you are grappling with any tricky parts of the pattern. And, of course, keep tagging us with your progress – we are so enjoying watching your colourful, cheerful blankets come to life! So, welcome to Week Three, and continue to enjoy your Spring in Bloom journey! Just a note about this week. The pattern is written using the colours for flower 5 and then you can follow the chart for flowers 6, 7 & 8 🙂
