Whispers of spring and the joy of summer are just some of the key elements demonstrated in the collection for this week’s Fabric Focus. We’re heading down into the countryside as we explore Lewis & Irene‘s Clearbury Down.
Crafting charmingly illustrated collections is something that Lewis & Irene continually excel in. The call to create the collection appears clear, as Lewis & Irene state:
“Inspired by the countryside and chalky downlands near our homes. Frothy hedgerows full of cow parsley, swaying in the breeze. Bees buzzing in the wild flowers while swallows swoop low. Trees with birds singing and countryside creatures playing on the edge of the copse.”
We love that Lewis & Irene take us on a journey with their collections, as storytelling appears to be such a big part of their concepts. You can really get such a feel for each piece noting their inspirations.
Showcasing florals and fauna alongside whimsical woodland animals, Clearbury Down is just another collection from Lewis & Irene that inspires you to quilt and craft.
You could use the collection to easily switch around your decor with a few makes for your home. Alternatively, you could also create beautiful project bags to give to a loved on keep for yourself. Using a variety of larger prints or smaller as shown in Clearbury Creatures, you won’t be short of ideas on what to use it for.
As always, we’re obsessing over our favourites this week and we have to say, we adore the dark blue within this collection!
Although summery throughout, these prints on the darker hues are really striking. The shadows and contrast Wild Thyme really pop, and the tones of the leaves and bird feathers in Clearbury Birds are just as striking. Yet our favourite has to be the almost Morris-esque Clearbury Summer! The mirrored foliage and florals, along with the woodland animals is incredibly charming to say the least.

It wouldn’t be a Lewis & Irene Fabric Focus without discussing yet another stunning free quilt pattern.
