We’ve covered many brands and designers since we’ve started The Stitchuation, so it really is time for Rico to shine under the spotlight. Not only do Rico offer a stunning variety of yarns, accessories and patterns, their needlecraft range within the warehouse covers both embroidery and cross stitch. Rico Designs never fail to bring their own identity to each piece, incorporating traditional elements to a modern audience and market.
Let’s take a closer look at some of our favourites for April’s edition of The Stitchuation!
Table Service
Rico are champions when it comes to tablewear. Whether it’s cloths or runners, Rico always hit the mark when it comes to delivering a truly stunning design. Over the years, they’ve offered numerous kits in both cross stitch and embroidery. Creating something like this for yourself or a loved one really is something to cherish. If you’re laying the table for a sumptuous sit down meal with friends or for just another Tuesday night, handmade decorations such as these remind us that every day is a special occassion.
The Lavender Table Runner is elegantly simplistic and offers a vintage feel, where the Floral Wreath displays beautiful pastels, using French knots to add further details to the piece. We’re also loving the more seasonal offerings, with the Summer Meadow Tablecloth getting us in the mood for an outdoor feast! Yet just a few months from that, the tones used in the Autumn Meadow Table Runner has a future us dreaming of cosying up, although offering enough joy to use all-year-round.
Toadstool-ly Awesome
For the past couple of years now, we’ve seen a resurgance toadstools practically, well, everywhere. Whether it be singular or used in more whimsical designs, we’re glad they’re back in the crafting space and, seemingly, here to stay!
Rico’s latest drop feature the woodland favourites across both embroidery and cross stitch. We love the muted and contrasting shade of the fabric in the Small Traced Mushroom embroidery kit, as well as the warm cream backing used in the Traced Mushroom Wreath Kit.
For cross stitching, the Fly Agaric Tablecloth kit is perfect for any setting, but for those more traditional country kitchens, it’s sure to set your tableware off a treat! Keeping with this dicipline, we couldn’t resist featuring this tiny Mushroom! This small kit is perfect for a woodland themed nursery or for anyone who just loves anything cute – we know we do! Reaching New Heights
It’s time to stop marking those door frames! Rico have released some super-cute height charts to stitch for the little ones and it’s safe to say we’re obsessed!
Monster Party is clearly the event of the ages as this squad certainly know how to get things started! Covered in balloons and sweet treats, the kids will be rushing to get measured to get celebrating with their chart-mates!
However, if their space is a little more tranquil, the Woodland Animals are quick to inspire a relaxed approach. Having the little ones guess to where they’ll grow to next becomes a fun game – they may start from the kayaking squirrel, but they’ll soon be astounded that they’ve finally reached the racoon!
There’s tonnes of fun for all the family with these kits and, depending on how you back them, they could be a work in progress. As they grow, you could add a backstitch and the date, turning this into a family heirloom that won’t be painted over.
