I’m back with another showcase of stunning fabrics, taking you through what’s new and what you’ve all been loving this August! We’re seeing the winds of change circle around us and I thought what better way to pop that into our monthly round up; let’s head through the seasons changing, starting with stunning florals.
Sweet Blooms – Craft Cotton Company 💐
We’re clinging onto the final rays of Summer and what better way to wave a somewhat farewell than to cast a gaze over Sweet Blooms, the new collection from Craft Cotton. Designed by Brogan Allard, most noted for her skills and designs on The Great British Sewing Bee, The Crafty Pie owner offers playful and whimsical prints in this new collection.

Zesty limes, cerise pinks and pretty peaches are just a few of the hues that feature that feel wonderfully complementary. The Floral Delights in White and Green prove timeless, where Strawberry Garden and Cherry Pop bring the fruity fun. My personal favourite design has to be the Ribbons and Bows; I can see the ultimate craft bag of dreams made up with that! Whatever your favourites, these Sweet Blooms are certain to keep the sunshine going.
For further inspiration, her book, Dopamine Dressmaking, is also another new addition to the warehouse. Featuring 15 wonderful patterns to create and adore, Brogan’s sewn her signature style into each design. With clear instructions and images throughout, Dopamine Dressmaking feels like a sewing-room-staple, no matter your skill level. Home Sweet Haunt – Moda 🎃
Although many are hoping to keep the sunshine going, there are a vast amount of you who are really getting into the spirit of things – yep, it’s me – there’s going to be a pun! Scream season is upon us and much like with a lot of crafting, us makers have to think that little bit further in advance.
You’ve all been charmed by Stacy Iest Hsu’s latest collection with Moda in Home Sweet Haunt and we can understand why. I’ll admit, I’ve been super excited for this to land ever since our supplier meeting! Featuring burnt oranges, stunning sages and charcoal black throughout, Home Sweet Haunt has flown out of the warehouse quicker than a witch on a broomstick.

It’s all treats and no tricks here as the collection delivers a more retro-feel to the season, with Stacy’s illustrations offering intriguing detail and linework throughout for that vintage vibe. If you’ve kept up with our Fabric Focus posts, you’ll know how hard it is for us to pick our favourites. Yet for this collection, my current faves have to be the Dancing Pumpkins in Stone, the Ghostly Ghosts in Moss and the super cute Jack O’Lanterns in Bone – perfect for scares here and there!
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Stacy Iest Hsu collection if there wasn’t a little friend or two to go with it!
The Lil’ Witch and Boo panel measures 112cms x 60cms, featuring full instructions on how to make this little cutie and kitty. Complete with a witch’s hat and sweet bucket, she’s certainly ready for the season.

We love to see what you’ve been making, so we’re ready to see those projects that are just too ghoul for school! Okay, I’ll stop now. Promise.
The Craft Garden – Liberty Fabrics x William Morris Gallery 🧡
From Summer to Autumn to forever timeless, both you and us have been loving Liberty Fabrics‘ latest collection, The Craft Garden. Celebrating May Morris’ designs, their latest collection reflects her importance in the Morris & Co. story.
May Morris forged her own path outside of her father, William Morris’, achievements. Known for her stunning embroidery work, jewellery designs and more, May’s lasting impact on design has been reworked and celebrated over many years and with no signs of slowing. It’s collaborations such as this one between Liberty Fabrics and the William Morris Gallery that prove that timeless designs will forever triumph.
Using stunning pinks and blues alongside an array of greens and marigolds, The Craft Garden excels in its historical design and colour choices. When commenting on their inspirations, Liberty Fabrics express via their lookbook just how important May’s role was below:

“The Craft Garden collection whisks us back to the early 1900s, celebrating the remarkable artistry of designer, May Morris, daughter of the legendary William Morris. Inspired by her creative charisma and technical prowess, these poetic patterns capture the essence of the Arts & Crafts movement through her meticulously detailed embroideries. The designs, imbued with a sense of symmetry, movement, and flow, reflect the style that played a pivotal role in defining Liberty’s early history and securing its place as one of the design house’s most iconic design pillars.”
It’s safe to say it sure does that indeed. To further showcase the beautiful collection, designer Leisa Morris White has created two free patterns for us all to enjoy and create. The Log Cabin quilts are available to download in both Blue and Pink colourways, with both offering a stylish and effective way to utilise the collection. Best Of The Rest ✂️
With the love for all things Morris not showing signs of slowing down, other designers are heading through the archives to breathe new life into classic collections. Moda, Free Spirit and Craft Cotton Co. have all offered quilters a wide variety of their takes on Morris’ iconic prints, with more to come.
As we close out with some classic pieces, our final selections of the month go to Morris Manor, Red House and Morris Muses. Each range encapsulates such a staple in time of design, spread across a number of colourways for you to inspire and craft into something to cherish. Each collection is brought back to the present with such a rich history sewn throughout each range, proving again and again how everlasting the world of Morris & Co. truly is.
That’s it from me for another month – Don’t forget to check out what Alex has got in store for this month’s yarn and projects, and what Annette’s taking a closer look at for all things needlecraft!
