We’re heading back into the haunted house this week for our penultimate post! For this week’s Scream-A-Thon, we’re chatting to Marketing Assistant Annette to see what gives her a jolly good fright this season.

Hi, Annette! What are your favourite things about the Halloween season?

Autumn is my favourite season by miles, so for the Halloween season it’s the chill in the air, the reds and gold colours of the falling leaves, the darker evenings and the opportunity to stay inside and craft.

Oh, absolutely! Are there any shows or movies that you love to watch this time of year?

The films: Shaun of the Dead (because it makes me laugh), American Werewolf in London (for the amazing special effects), Misery (oh, the tension when he is trying to get back to his room before she comes home…) and Wonka (although, to be fair, I love to watch this at any time of year!)

Some great picks, there! What upcoming Horrors are on your watchlist?

I am planning a trip to the cinema for the 50-year re-release of one of the scariest movies of all time – Jaws.

We love a re-release; have fun! In the somewhat words of Ghostface (IYKYK), what are your top three favourite scary movies?

1. Train to Busan (because of the zombies who can’t see but can hear, and the efforts of the train passengers to escape them by crawling along the luggage racks)
2. Dawn of the Dead (the original because it is a masterpiece of horror and tension)
3. Wallce and Gromit and the Curse of the Were-Rabbit (the enormous rabbit called Hutch is so cute, in an alarming sort of way).

Have you got any plans coming up to celebrate?

I am planning to stay at home with my partner, watching a collection of our favourite autumn viewing and stitching.

Sounds perfect! Is there anything you’re working on project-wise to avoid the jumpscares?

I have two Halloween projects ready to begin for the season – orange and purple are my favourite creepy colours, and when used on a fabric shade called “Murky”, it’s a perfect seasonal combination. I have a ghoulish mermaid in progress on a fabulous dark blue fabric (who was inspired by my amazing mermaid-skeleton ornament).

I love a haunting stitch, and have completed several other Halloween-themed projects, all ready to display whilst the ghosts and witches roam the streets!
