Kids Week’ in the Yarn Barn was all about tiny stitches and big demands, with the crafters focusing on children’s garments and interactive toys.
The solo challenge was to design a whimsical, crocheted fancy dress costume for a toddler. Isaac delivered brilliantly with an explorer costume featuring a clever Intarsia world map, earning high praise. Holger’s fox outfit was also a hit for its charm. However, technical issues plagued others; Dipti’s ambitious crayon costume didn’t hold its shape, and Tracey’s queen bee wings lacked structural integrity.

The team challenge involved creating an interactive, sensory wall-hanging for a child’s bedroom. Team One excelled, producing a cohesive creature motif with excellent sensory elements. Team Two struggled significantly with time management and their sea creature panel didn’t sit flush, a major failing the judges noticed. I personally enjoyed them both!
The judges reviewed both challenges, and Isaac was crowned the well-deserved Best Knitter of the Week for his consistent skill and brilliant costume design. Sadly, the pressure of the small scale challenges and her part in the less successful team effort meant Dipti was the contestant cast off this week.
It was a frantic week showing just how tricky crafting for the little ones can be! See you next week 💫🩷✨💚🌈
