We’re on the closing month of the year and, for many of us, thoughts of what 2026 may bring can flutter in the mind. With posts on socials of round-ups, goals and so on, things can feel a little ‘close’ as we inch towards that fresh new year. So, for the final Book Club of the year, we thought we’d keep things a little mindful, as we flip through the pages of Steph Arnold’s 365 Days of Stitches.

Owner and designer of Oh Sew Bootiful, Steph Arnold’s love for crafting began at an early age. Back in February, we interviewed Steph for our Designer Spotlight series, where she was so kindly open about both her business and her personal journey. The inspiration for her brand came from Steph’s journey with her own mental health, as crafting and embroidery gave her a sense of peace, bringing her calm when she needed it the most.

As her mental health began to improve, and a period of exploring her own Etsy shop, Steph realised that designing was where her passion truly was. Fast-forward to present day and here she is with a bountiful business and a dedicated audience. Steph’s ethos for mindfulness shines through and it’s clear that in her book, 365 Days of Stitches, having a creative outlet to explore your emotions and thoughts was something that inspired her.

With Phenology wheels in her stock list and her latest book on journalling, Steph’s inspirations for the projects are birthed from the heart. She explains:

“Going back a few years when I was having therapy, it was suggested that I keep a journal each day of something positive that had happened or that I’d seen. It didn’t matter how big or small it was, it just had to be something that made me smile so I was focusing on good things. I still have them and it’s nice to look back on.

So when the idea of thread journal came around it was an instant spark. It combined my love of embroidery with something simple but so positive. It can be hard to notice the positives some days so stitching a journal, looking out for the simple pleasures to record is a great way of staying present.”

With over 1000 motifs planned and stitched by Steph herself, 365 Days of Stitching puts you in good stead to begin your own journey with stitch-journalling for the new year. The book comes with full instructions, touching stories from other stitchers and easy, iron-on transfers for templates. With lots to discover, 365 Days of Stitching is sure to be a great friend to many of us for 2026.
