We may only be a mere number of weeks into the new year, but we’re going back millions of years for this week’s Fabric Focus! We’re heading back in time to explore and discover some seriously roar-some prints with Prehistoric from Makower.
It goes without saying that dinosaurs have always been a fascinating subject for millions of us. From childhood, we’re overcome with awe that these creatures actually walked the earth. Whether it be from visiting jaw-dropping exhibits in museums, to media such as video games and film, soaking up factual history or fictional alternate realities where they still walk among us will never not be a staggering thing to think about. So it’s no surprise that when these creatures are printed onto fabric, it excites many world over!
Whether it be a Stegosaurus, a Brachiosaurus, a Pterodactyl or a Tyrannosaurus Rex, there’s always another dinosaur to discover – especially in this collection! Whether you’re up for some excavation in both Strata and Fossils, or you’re heading out from the palms and fronds to bravely explore their homelands in Paradise, these designs help further illustrate how versatile these prints are for any age. You could fashion a tote bag for a friend, make some themed cushions for the home, or craft some super-cute jurassic themed bunting for a little one’s nursery; the possibilities are endless!
We’ll get to talking about our personal favourites in just a moment, but alongside the full range itself, Prehistoric also features a panel! Showcasing a super-fun scene, it’s perfect to fashion into a wall hanging, or as a centrepiece for a quilt. We’re also stocking the precut 5 inch squares, a pack that’ll make your quilting plans a doddle.
Okay, so we couldn’t wait any longer! There’s a tonne of fun to be had with Prehistoric and, like we said, plenty of uses, yet these three picks really have stood out to us more than most.
First up, it’s Spot in the multi colourway! Available in Blue, Cream, Green and Brown, the Multi hits the nail on the head and ties in the tones of the collection wonderfully, with their shapes almost feeling like tiny little dinosaur eggs! Makower’s blenders in any ranges always feel well thought out, and the ones featured in this collection are no different.
Next up on our top three is Roam in Green; we’re loving the colour contrasts on this one, not to mention many a dino just having a casual walk about with some family and friends! Seeing the infants alongside their parents here further illustrate how great this would be for a nursery or children’s room – but it’s also bringing back all the feels from The Land Before Time!
Finally, we’re keeping things neutral with Pals in Cream; a great scattered print featuring everyone’s favourite prehistoric pals! Also available in Green and Brown, the three versatile colourways allow you the option to shop for what may already fit your decor, yet the cream offers a great ‘base’ to work with, giving you the option to branch out with colour elsewhere within the collection.
