We’re doing things a little differently for this week’s Fabric Focus, as we’re simply far too thrilled to wait to talk about some collections! We thought we’d dedicate this next month’s posts to talk about what we’re excited to see arrive in the warehouse and first up, we’re talking all thing Tula Pink! Yes, Tula’s back in the warehouse again very soon and with a brand-new collection, Floral Reef. Arriving in an array of bright and bold colours, Floral Reef has got us all kinds of excited and then some.
We love how vibrant Tula’s collections are, and we know you do, too. As far as the inspiration behind the collection goes, Tula explains via her website:
“I grew up on the Pacific Coast in Southern California. Even though I now live, landlocked, in the Midwest I always find myself drawn back to that salty water. Our world’s oceans are deep and confounding, hiding a million mysteries we have yet to discover. It’s this mystery that keeps me coming back to it again and again. Submerging yourself in the water you find a whole alien planet like ours but different. I wanted to play with that idea.”

She continues:
“I approached this like a floral collection but instead of the usual land flowers we are so used to I replaced the bouquets with sprigs of coral, anemones and seaweed. Mixed among these water florals are the shadows of sharks, colorful seahorses, tropical fish and krates with the occasional octopus tentacle for good measure. Take a dip in the deep sea and let the magical underwater world wash over you. If you look close you might even find a pearl or two!”
We’d say she’s completed what she’d set out to create, that’s for sure! As soon as a new Tula collection is mentioned, we’re always intrigued to see where she goes with it and what her take on that theme may be. As far as favourites go, there’s plenty to love within Floral Reef, but we must admit, her ombré blenders are some of our top picks! Aquatic Lace, Riptide and Wave Rider are some serious showstoppers, tying the whole collection together beautifully, yet standing just as strong on their own.
For main prints, we can’t help but be a little bit obsessed with Reef What You Sew in Ultraviolet, alongside Friends and Anemones in Seafoam. But we can’t talk favourites without a mention of School Crossing in Delphine! Angelfish, Clownfish, and many more surround polkadots, bringing a fun twist to what could be used as a hero print or a blender – the possibilites are endless with this collection!
