April Fabric

It’s been a particularly unpredictable, blustery and wet April for us here in the Midlands, which for me has been reminiscent of my time living near the coast in Devon. Lots of dramatic cloudy skies, blowy walks, heavy downpours, and then suddenly, bright sunshine again. There’s also a distinctly nautical flavour to the new fabric ranges that have arrived in the warehouse this month, lets take a peek!

The beautiful ‘Coral Coast‘ collection from Dashwood Studio is due in the next few weeks, and while it has an ocean theme, it’s a far cry from the unpredictable British seaside. Ornate fish and sea turtles serenely glide through reefs festooned with coral, crabs, and shells. What particularly drew us to this collection is the unusual colour palette; designer Sarah Knight has filled her tropical ocean with bright pinks, orange and purple, rather than the more classic nautical blues and creams.

Keep your eyes peeled, and sign up for an in stock email here if you’re keen to know when stock arrives.

Some of our lovely fabric suppliers are contending with shipping delays at the moment, so we are delighted to finally have the first collections in stock from Lewis and Irene’s Spring Summer 2024 release.

Dive into a magical world beneath the waves with ‘Ocean Pearls’, featuring graceful sea turtles, shoals of tiny fish, and beautiful shells with hidden pearls. The muted colour palette of soft lilac, blues and creams is highlighted by pearlescent accents that give the whole collection a dewy, jewelled look, like the wet pebbles and shells on the tide line (does anybody else feel compelled to fill their pockets with beach treasures?). I made the most of a brief spell of sun to take photos of this fabric outside, and it really comes alive.

If you’re a quilter, check out the gorgeous free pattern that Lewis and Irene have released with this collection, or if you fancy a quick project, the pretty bunting panel will be super easy to whip up.

Psssst…. if you’re not feeling the nautical vibe, ‘Clearbury Down‘ has also arrived (we gave you a sneak peak of it back in February…) and is bringing some much needed Spring cheer. You can find it here

Also new in from beloved illustrator Anita Jeram (you might recognise her work from her hugely popular ‘Guess How Much I Love You’ books), ‘Sandy Toes‘ is a gentle ode to magical summer days at the British seaside. Featuring sweet drawings of puffins, mermaids, cheeky puppies, seagulls, shells and more, this lovely nostalgic fabric collection would work equally well as a quilt (teamed with the gorgeous picture panel) or as a little shirt or dress for a child, thanks to Clothworks’ slightly lighter weight base fabric.

And that’s it for this month’s fabric round up! Don’t forget to check out our April needlecraft, and yarn and projects updates.
