What To Do With Scrap Fabric ✂️

We’ve all got them, and they appear to get bigger with each project – THE STASH. Why is it so tough to re-home those off-cuts? Thankfully, there’s always an idea or a little make we can find to use them up.

Depending on how much you’ve got in your stockpile, your range of makes will obviously vary. There’s a plethora of ideas on the internet, but we’ve complied a little list of some of our go-to makes to sew when our stash is, quite literally, bursting at the seams.

Where patterns may allow, making bunting is sure to bring a bit of cheer into any room. Depending on how small you want your pennants, it’s pretty easy to whip up a set or two in an afternoon.

For another handmade tip, these usually go down a storm with new parents for a baby’s nursery! After some conversational digging, have a forage through your stash, see what you may have that fits in with the theme and get sewing. Just remember to leave yourself a good amount of bias tape to tie them up with!

Sometimes we’re a little better off than we think when it comes to off-cuts. You may be able to have enough to make yourself some coasters!

Using scrap wadding, fabric and a few stitches, it’s hey presto! Perfect to use up those remnants and bring a bit of colour into your home. Alternatively, pop them in as part of a housewarming gift for a loved one; each time they have a cuppa, they’ll think of you!

They’re also great to whip up in time for the seasons to make your decor that little bit more festive.

On the topic of keeping things seasonal, another great and effective way to utilise your scraps are to make these quaint little pumpkins. Using fabric, stuffing (or unusable scraps), a little twine and a stick, you’re able to craft yourself the perfect pumpkin patch to display around autumn.

Super cute and effective, making these are a sure-fire way to get you in the mood for the change of season. Grab the winter warmers, pop on the cosy movies and get crafting! Did someone say Pumpkin Spiced everything?!

If you’ve an abundance of varied sizes, patchwork will be your bestie. The world’s really your oyster with this technique and if you love to play around with different designs and styles, it’s the perfect solution to use up those spare bits and bobs.

We love sitting with our remnants and planning out where each piece will go – any excuse to have a rifle through the stash with a cuppa!

Earbuds and earphones are renowned for getting lost or ending up in a tangled mess at the bottom of your bag. Grabbing a couple of pieces of fabric and a small zip, you can make yourself a handy little case!

Adding a tab, you can always get yourself a key-chain hook and attach it to your bag, belt loop or keys. Not only will this keep those pesky tangles at bay, you’re also thinning out that stash. They also make a handy gift for music lovers everywhere!

These are just a few ways to aid a creative cull to your fabric stash, but there are many more out there to find! Show us some of your favourite stash creations by using #WoolWarehouseStashSearch and we’ll share some of our favourites.

Now, off to have a raid… see ya!
