Reminiscent of glistening winter mornings, Lewis & Irene’s Secret Winter Garden has captivated us wholeheartedly as we head further into November. There are many things we love about Lewis & Irene, yet the elements of storytelling within their collections really are a highlight for us.

“Find the old door and open it with a golden key to reveal a beautiful secret garden, glistening with frost and snow.”
Above is a quote taken from their site, offering us a snapshot of what Secret Winter Garden is all about. No matter what they are showcasing with one range in particular, each one intrigues us about its inspiration and initial concept.
Lewis & Irene are no strangers to using other elements on their fabrics. We’ve explored on other posts how effective their glow in the dark ’embellishments’ are, and the metallic and pearlised elements really do illustrate Secret Winter Garden’s story further.

The elements within the collection are elegantly understated; the shimmer of the ornate gold Key, the touch of pearly frost to the garden’s trees in Owl Orchard and, although the Snowberries are covered in ice, it’s not overbearing.
We can hear the rustle of frosted grass as it cracks beneath our feet, we can feel the chill in the air, all while wondering what other secrets lie behind the garden’s wall.
Ultimately, we’re placed within its story.
As you know, we always find it hard to pick our favourites and we’ve struggled this week more than most!
Each design feels like a snapshot in discovering something within the garden itself, but if we had to make the choice, it would be the garden keys.
Enchanting in light grey and blue, the Keys in Dark Blue really have caught our eyes this week. Not only does the gold metallic really pop on this darker hue, it offers more depth to the collection – we love it!

Excitingly enough, there’s also a free quilt pattern to go with the collection! Using Bumbleberries for part of the border, the pattern almost offers a little window into the garden, as bunnies hop and owls fly through the frosty air.
Have you used Secret Winter Garden for a project? We’d love to see! Make sure to tag us in your makes by using #WWCrafters, and we’ll share some of our favourites.
We’ll see you in a couple of weeks as we see what Father Christmas might be getting up to in some fabulously festive ranges! ❄
