As 2024 comes to an end, we find ourselves winding down and enjoying the quiet of December. The Christmas rush of making projects is over, and we can enjoy the little bit of bliss that comes with the New Year.

We’ve showed you some showstoppers over 2024, so we’ve done a round up of new bits from December, but also included some of our favourites from earlier in the year!

We’re starting the month with something new, the King Cole Fruitilicous. Available in 8 soft and gorgeous shades, this yarn is perfect for those who love a yarn with a bit of texture and pastel shades. Each 100g ball of this multicoloured wonder is crafted from 100% polyester, ensuring a gentle touch against delicate skin and is easily machine washable. Fruitilicious offers endless creative possibilities for projects with plush textures, bringing joy and comfort to every creation. Sugar Plum, Candy Floss and Love Hearts are some of our favourites!

Taking a look back over the year, we’ve had some excellent yarns join us in 2024. Yarnsmiths Merino Sock took centre stage earlier this year, with many of you taking the solid shades and creating some beautiful socks, and some of you took it one step further, by using this versatile yarn for shawls and knitted garments. We introduced three new festive shades in November, which you have also been loving. I wonder what other plans Yarnsmiths has for 2025? Sign up here to find out more.

We’ve also had some cracking launches from Caron, King Cole and West Yorkshire Spinners. The WYS Retreat Chunky has been marvellous to stock, and seeing your makes come to life with this yarn has been lovely. The King Cole Jitterbug was also a highlight of this year – with a nod to the 1980s, this yarn is a lively mix of past and present, designed to inspire creativity and fun! And lastly, Caron introduced some beautiful yarns, including the Colorama Halo and the gorgeous Blossom Cakes! What have you loved seeing this year?

This year, we’ve worked with so many gorgeous designers, it’s hard to pinpoint just one. Yarnsmiths has collaborated with different designers, who have all brought their own unique sense of style to our yarns. We may also have something very fun lined up with Helen Smith from Emkat Crochet next year… we can’t wait!

To bring things back to the present day, Polly Plum has released a new pattern and yarn pack called Ma Petite Mamie. The finished blanket is striking, as it uses different shades of Stylecraft Batik Swirl, making the overall finished effect look like it’s a hand-dyed piece.

That’s all for this month, why not head over to see what’s new with Needlecraft, and make sure you pop over to see Judith in Fabric 🥰
