We’re back with another edition of The Stitchuation, but this time around, we’re switching things up in The Craft Room. In the past, we’ve focused on taking a closer look at a brand overall; yet for 2025, we’ll be up close and personal, looking at the brands within the brand.
As many of us stitchers know, Bothy Threads house a number of artists, so when it comes to selecting some wonderful items to showcase, we thought it best to highlight some of the incredible original artwork to your new favourite kit. So without further delay, let’s head into all things Wrendale!
Behind The Brand
Wrendale Designs have become quite the household name over the years, as Hannah Dale’s animal-focused art has captured the hearts of millions. Taken from their site, Bothy talks of Hannah’s journey:

Artist Hannah Dale grew up in the beautiful countryside of the Lincolnshire Wolds. Having always loved nature and wildlife she studied Zoology at Cambridge University, spending the long hours of fieldwork drawing and painting animals. After a career as a stockbroker in London in 2012 she decided to combine her passions for art and wildlife and attempt to make a living from her paintings.
They continue:
It was then suggested to Hannah that she design some cards… and she hasnโt looked back! Wrendale Designs has since become a globally recognised, multi-award winning brand of best-selling cards, stationery, home and giftware.
Hannah and her husband Jack now run the business together with a wonderful team working behind the scenes so that Hannah can focus on what she enjoys most – her wonderful artwork. This collection of cross stitch kits has become a very popular addition to the ever growing collection of Wrendale products.

Hannah’s passion certainly leaps right off the page; it’s no wonder that her designs have resonated with so many. With that being said, here are some of our favourites within the collection!
Just A Note…

We thought we’d also start our post with cards; it’s rather fitting when you think of how Hannah’s journey began and its next phase!
Greeting cards really are a beautiful way to let someone know you’re thinking of them and what a wonderful way to do so when combining it with craft. Taking the time to stitch one of these cuties is sure to put a smile on a loved one’s face, and with Wrendale’s signature speckled background printed onto the aida, these cards are perfect for fans of Hannah’s originals.
Now don’t let some of the names steer you away – you can use these for most occasions, or just as a ‘Thinking of You’. But we’ll admit, Guinea Be A Great Day does appear to be reserved for yet another trip around the sun! Thankfully, there’s a little more ambiguity design-wise in Hammy Anniversary, Bouncing Birthday and Peek-A-Boo.
Makes For The Den

We’re heading into some bigger projects now with these beautiful fox-themed kits that are striking on the signature speckled aida! Featuring stunning marigolds and burnt oranges throughout, the depths of other tones used really compliment each of these pieces. It’s impressive how Bothy’s managed to translate Wrendale’s signature watercolour designs whilst working in an entirely different format.
We can’t get over how cute their little smiles of contentment are in Poppy Field, Winter Solstice and Afternoon Nap, yet it’s the moment of serenity in Amongst The Foxgloves that really melts our heart. We adore the subtle backstitching on the flowers and fur; it really breathes life into the piece – what a peaceful place to ponder!
In The Tall Grass

Wrendale always deliver on an idyllic imagining of the countryside and these little mice sure do fit the bill. Set around florals, berries and even mushrooms, you can’t help but wonder what these tiny creatures will be up to next.
Daisy Mouse appears to be in a spot of bother with the ladybirds, with Brambles displaying a moment of rest. He’s A Fun-Gi offers another reminder of scale around beautiful reds and oranges, whilst Little Whispers make us wonder what’s being said in between the prettiest pink petals. We adore the whimsy of these little mice and we’re sure many of you will too!
Just The Two Of Us

There’s nothing better than spending some time with your sidekick and these cuties certainly prove that. Feline Good, and Lettuce Be Friends are sure to bring a smile when you’re stitching away, but this tender moment between parent and calf in Gentle One certainly has captured our hearts this month.
We’ve seen backstitching throughout many of Wrendale’s kits and it’s a winning detail that really elevate these pieces. Even if you’re not a fan, we’re sure you’ll agree that by adding these little touches, it gives a lot of dimension to these fluffy friends!
