Well I think we can all agree that May’s been and gone in a flash! I hope you’ve all had a good month and enjoyed the sunshine. It’s been another busy month in our Fabric department; we’ve seen delivery after delivery arrive and what a treat each box has been. Let’s take a look at what’s new and what you’ve been loving for the month of May!
Dreamy Dashwood 🌙
With a wide range of artists, we’re always thrilled to see a Dashwood delivery come into the warehouse! This month, we saw the arrival of two long-awaited collections from two well-loved designers.
Inspired by Mexican folk art, Stephanie Thannhauser’s Viva La Vida delivers stunning florals, sugar skulls and characters inspired by renowned artist, Frida Kahlo. We’re loving just how vibrant and celebratory this collection is!
I love anything with skulls on, so other than the Sugar Skulls, my other personal favourite within the collections has to be the floral Skeletons. I love how striking the bright florals and skeletons are on the teal background; the contrast between the elements makes everything really pop!

Desert Moon’s up next from Bethan Janine, as she brings her signature style to a bit of a different theme this time around. Western-style influences appear to be coming into trend that little bit more at the moment, as we’ve seen other designers with Dashwood bring out similar successful collections, such as Carly Watts’ Cosmic Cowboy range.
Yet taking things out of space rodeos and back down to earth, we’re heading to the Wild West, as Desert Moon features mirrored foxes, bright cacti and dazzling stars. It was clear to see which was your favourite, as the Horses have already galloped out of the warehouse and into your sewing stashes. We can’t wait to see what you’ve been making with the collection, so don’t forget to keep sending your pictures our way!
Totally Tula! 🩷
We see you, Tula Pink Fans! You’ve all gone absolutely wild for Full Moon Forest II, and so have we! With call backs to her first ever collection 18 years ago, Full Moon Forest II certainly feels like the perfect celebration to mark her 50th collection.
“When I realized that I was again sitting down to design a fabric collection but now for the 50th time, I felt appreciation wash over me. With this new collection, I want to honor where I began and what I have gained along the way. So much has changed since that first collection (Full Moon Forest) and in some ways so much is still the same.”

She continues:

“Full Moon Forest II is the culmination of the things I have learned along the way and the ways I have evolved, improved, and achieved clarity over the years of doing a job that I love so much. In this new collection, I have revisited each of the original prints and reimagined them with all of the things I have learned.”
Yet the newest arrival of the designer’s bright and bold fabric family is True Colors, a 28-bolt strong collection featuring smaller prints, yet still keeping in with Tula’s signature style. Ditsy florals, grids, space sprinkles and ‘hidden’ animals feature, offering a great selection of prints and colours to blend in with your other Tula projects.

Coming Soon ✂️
We’ve got some really exciting collections landing soon, but the ones I’m the most excited for are a little more on the autumnal side! Whilst I personally believe ghosts are for life and not just for Halloween, I’m itching to see Stacey Iest Hsu’s Home Sweet Haunt from Moda, and Helen Black’s return to Dashwood with The Witching Hour! I absolutely adore both of these ladies’ illustration styles and I can’t wait to see these land in the Fabric room in the coming months.
Alongside my love for all things a little bit creepy, The Crafty Pie’s Sweet Blooms is a collection I’m just as excited about. Featuring sweet fruits and retro florals, Brogan Allard’s designs are sure to brighten up our shelves and fabric stashes, alright!
That’s it from me for all things Fabric for May – thanks for joining me!
